22-OCTOBER-2019, Singapore
National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Computing wrapped up a second run of its Summer Workshop which was held from 4 July 2019 to 5 Aug 2019. The summer program drew 666 students from various universities across Asia such as China, South Korea and India - almost twofold increase from 378 students in 2018.
To meet the demands of the significant surge in student numbers, this year's workshop expanded the topic selection and devoted more teaching resources and staff so as to maintain the quality and student experience. In addition to offering popular topics from 2018's Summer Workshop, the organisers added several new topics and reshuffled the topics into 4 clusters: Year 1, Artificial Intelligence and Security, Big Data and Cloud Computing and finally, Multimedia and VR/AR.
Staying true to its roots, the Summer Workshop retained its blend of theory and practice, weaving lectures and knowledge into hands-on experiences and real-life applications. The students projects were presented on a final showcase day and selected posters will be made available online.
"2019 was a huge success - we were blown away by the calibre of our participants and all the work they managed to bring to fruition through the workshop. This is all thanks to the continued support from our partner universities and our dedicated team of staff and student helpers." said in a statement from the organizing committee for Summer Workshop 2019.
NUS School of Computing will continue its efforts to build on the partnerships and relationships forged through the Summer Workshop and is currently in the works of preparing for another edition of the Summer Workshop in 2020. Interested students may find further details on 2020's Summer Workshop website that will be up in due time.
